Zeldathon Heals Art Collection

Over the past week I've been posting one Zelda-related illustration a day to celebrate the eight-day run of Zeldathon Heals, a charity livestream on Twitch. Last Zeldathon I completed just one illustration of Link, but this time I decided to up the number as an excuse to try new styles, explore more aspects of the Zelda world, and (long shot) get the opportunity to do official work for the Zeldathon team. It also built up a nice base of art which could be included in a (buyable!!) Zelda sketchbook. All the pieces are collected here. It was a fun adventure, but now that I'm at the end of it, I'm ready to rest!

Spongeball Footbob

Hey everyone,

I recently wrapped up another storyboarding sequence for class that I wanted to share here, in the form of a pitch video. It's a football-based Spongebob scene, and since this likely won't show in up in a portfolio (due to the copyrighted characters) I still wanted to make sure it would be visible in some way. I'm not super familiar with the show (I actually wasn't allowed to watch it as a kid), but this is how I would have done it! Also the comedy may not carry over as clearly cause I totally botched the comedic timing during the pitch - but my computer was running out of battery and I didn't want to record it again (believe it or not, this was actually not my first take). So here it is! Finished, not perfect, I guess. Bonus points if you can spot the Sam Abner cameo!

A Most Adventurous Storyboarding Time

Hey guys,

I recently did some Adventure Time storyboards for class! It was fun having the chance to work with some classic characters from my childhood, even though this sequence isn't in any official episode. Here's a little pitch video -

Even though these drawings are pretty rough, even rougher drawings preceded them - the thumbnails! In case you'd like to see my planning process, they're right here. Thumbnailing is fun - unless you're thumbnailing buildings in perspective. Luckily this sequence is fairly free of buildings. I'm still figuring out my process and style for boarding, but so far I've been following the method of thumbnailing character introductions and group shots first, and referencing the board artists of Gravity Falls (like Dana Terrace) when it comes to drawing style. I tend to over-sketch, so finding a style that communicated well while still being fast to draw was a challenge!

Hope you enjoyed it and more storyboards should be coming soon!
